Staying home or moving into care: how to decide

Both can be the right answer. These are the questions that usually decide it.

Can you stay local?

In rural Lincolnshire, the nearest suitable care home may be in another town. Live-in care keeps you in your own village, near friends, church and the places you know.

How much attention?

Care home staff share their time across many residents. A live-in carer supports one household, so help comes when it's needed rather than when staff are free.

Staying together

Couples - and pets - can stay together with live-in care. In a care home, partners with different needs may end up in different places.

Cost

A single person needing a little help may find a residential home cheaper. The balance tips as needs increase - and tips further for couples. Remember too that your house is ignored by the council when care comes to you.

Times a care home makes more sense

If someone needs registered nursing care around the clock, needs two people for every move, or would be happier with company all around them, a good care home may suit them better. We'll always say so honestly.
